Blogpost 5, pages 221-271

Now it's time for me to write my last blogpost. I've finally read the whole book and I'm really satisfied about how it ended. In the last part, Christopher finds his mother in London and they meet for the first time in years. His mother got very happy when she saw him. He on the other hand did as usual not show much of emotions while meeting his mother. She asked him why he hadn't answered her letters and he told her about how his dad had lied about her death.

What I still think is weird is the fact that she left her own son, and that she didn't make any bigger efforts to be able to see him now and then. He obviously meant something to her as she kept writing letters to him, but I'm starting to think that those letters was for her own conscience, to make her feel better about herself.

Christopher stays at his mum's place for weeks, although he doesn't like it very much, because of his mother's boyfriend Mr. Shears, who I wouldn't call one of the best men. One day, Christopher's mum tells him that he wont be able to do the maths A level test and this makes him heartbroken. He had been waiting to do this test for a very long time and you could tell from the way Christopher talked about it earlier in the book that to do this test meant a lot to him.

I think that he by nailing the test would feel like he had proven to himself and others that he is good enough. Although he is different in many ways, he would come a long way in life, because he is very smart and brave. That's why I feel very sorry for Christopher when he finds out about this.

It all ends very happily. Christopher and his mother move back to where his dad lives, without Mr. Shears and Christopher gets to do his maths A level test (which he obviously nails). Eventually, he and his dad get closer when Christopher starts trusting him again. He also gets a dog from his dad!

I thought this book was amazing and I'm really happy that I got a chance to read it. I would recommend everyone to read this wonderful book!

Blogpost 4, pages 166-220

This is the fourth blogpost that I write, and the book is about to come to an end. What has happened so far is that Christopher found out that his father killed the dog Wellington and that he had been lying about his mother's death for years. As soon as Christopher realized what his father had done, he decided that he couldn't live with him, as he thought he might be dangerous. This made me feel really bad for his father. Even though he had done some horrible things, he still was the one that had taken care of Christopher his whole life. I think he is going to be devastated when he finds out that Christopher is on his way to London to live with his mother.

In this part, you get to follow Christopher on his long trip to his mother in London. Like I've told you before, Christopher is different from everyone else, but he is also very smart. Although he faces a lot of difficulties, he finds a solution almost every time. To be around strangers and visit new places are some of the worst things Christopher knows. To make this a lot easier he pretends like it is all a computer game. As he would be able to turn of the computer anytime he wanted. This made him feel a lot safer and helped him to make it all the way to London .

I think this is a clear example of how strong and brave Christopher is. He doesn't give up on something that he has decided to do. In this way I'm a lot like him. If I've decided to do or achieve something, I won't give up. This can be something good, but also something bad, for example in those cases when your goals are a bit to high to achieve, and you'll easily get disappointed.

After a lot of fear, meetings with policemen, crowded trains and math problems, Christopher finally reach London and I'm really excited to find out if Christopher is going to find his mother, and in that case, how she will react.

Blogpost 3, pages 111-165

Three weeks have past and it's time for me to write my third blogpost. I just have to say one thing before I start. Wow. This was the most exciting and funny part of what I've read so far. You did not only find out who killed the dog, but also something really, really big that I didn't see coming at all. Christopher's mum is alive!

It all started out with a scenario that I at a beginning thought was quite fun. Christopher decided to search through the whole house to find the detective book his father had hidden. When he finally found the book, he found something else as well. Letters adressed to him. He read the letters and soon realized that his mother wasn't dead as his dad always had told him. She was alive and lived in London together with Mrs. Shear's ex husband Mr. Shear. In the letter she told him that she had left Christopher and his dad because she felt like they did better without her. That she wasn't good enough and didn't have the patience to be able to take care of Christopher in the best way.

Of course I got really sad while reading this part. I felt so bad for Christopher, who had to read that he was the reason to that his mother had left them. I got frankly upset when I read about why his mother left them. In one way I can understand that she didn't feel like she wasn't good enough, but I can't say that I think that is a acceptable reason to leave your child behind. If I were her, I would have tried even harder to get everything to work.

Myself, I don't have a close relation to my dad and to feel like your own parent doesn't care much about you is one of the worst feelings. I can definitely imagine how it must feel for Christopher. Also the fact the his father had lied to him for so many years must feel heartbreaking.

Like I mentioned before, we found out who killed the dog. It was no other than Christopher's dad! I had no clue that it was him so I got very surprised. When I checked in on the other blogs I got it like they all suspected Christopher's dad because of the fact that he got very angry when Christopher kept going with his investigation. I didn't react on this like the others, as I thought he just didn't want Christopher getting into any trouble (something that turned out wasn't quite true).

I'm very excited to keep reading and find out what's going to happen next, especially since Chrisopher no longer wants to live with his dad.

Blogpost 2, pages 56-110

Now, it's time to write my second blogpost and this week I've read pages 56-110. Well, I have to say that I didn't think this part was quite as good as the first one. I thought it got a bit boring sometimes, for example when Christopher wrote about his favorite book. When he's writing, he keeps it very short and simple. He doesn't have much of a vocabulary, so he often uses words over and over again. That makes it kind of hard for me to understand at some points.

However, like I predicted, Christopher continues with his detective work. One day, he decides to talk to Mrs. Alexander, and ask her if she knew anything about Mr. Shears (the owner to the dead dog's ex husband). When Christopher's dad later finds out about this little chat, he gets furious and that's because he had told Christoper a bunch of times that he didn't want him to keep doing his detective work. He throws everything that Christopher has worked on and they get in a big fight.

When I read this, I felt really bad. I perceived it like he just wanted to do something on his own, be independent, but that nothing worked out the way he wished. I do feel myself in this part. Sometimes I just want to do something by myself, make my own mistakes and not be told what to do or not to do.

In this part of the book, Christopher explains how his memory works. He has an incredibly good memory. So good that he can go back years and remember exactly what someone said, what they were wearing and what they were doing. I thought this was really cool and I would love to be able to do the same.

I hope you liked this blogpost and now, I'm going to keep reading!

Blogpost 1, pages 1-55

This week I started reading the book that I got for the book assignment in school - The curious incident of the dog in the night-time. I've only read 55 pages, but so far I like it very much. I got hooked in the story, once reading the first pages. It all started out with a scen that the whole book is based on. This is where Christopher, the main character, finds a dead dog lying in his neighbor's garden. Already, you get a picture of his way to think and how he reacts. Christopher is a fifteen years old boy, who has something called Asperger's syndrome. This means you like to have everything well organized and have full control all the time. He doesn't see the world the way others do. He always has an objective point of view. This makes it very hard for him to read other peoples' feelings and know how to act around people he doesn't know.

I've never met anyone with the Asperger's syndrome, so I can't really imagine how it must be, but based on what I’ve read about Christopher, it must be like living in a different world. Like when he says that he finds it confusing that people use facial expressions to make themselves understood. He explains that he thinks it's hard to know what people really mean. I can actually relate to that, although I might not think it’s nearly as hard as Christopher thinks.

Anyway, when Christopher finds the dog, he decides to start an investigation, where he tries to find out who killed the dog. I think this part is quite cute, because he has to face his fears (like talking to strangers) to do this. Most likely he will keep searching for the murder in the rest of the book and I’m looking forward read more about it!
